Monarch Butterflies

Every year late fall to Winter (Mid-Oct to Mid-Feb) Monarch butterflies call Natural Bridges SB their temporary home. This year I got chance to visit park and see thousands of butterflies at one place. It was pretty breath taking experience. My 3 year old enjoyed much more than us and she wanted to stay there, touch butterflies, experience them fly together ...

Winter flowering Eucalyptus trees are convenient food source for butterflies. Its pretty common to see butterflies clustered on Eucalyptus trees like above photo.

State park also had few Milkweed plants so we got opportunity to see caterpillars. Monarch butterflies drink nectar from milkweed flowers, female lay eggs on this plant, in short its another one of their favorite plants.

Park is located just outside Santa Cruz. Apart from butterflies park has very nice beach and a picnic area. In short its a perfect place for some family time.
